Scope and Content:
Filmed over an entire year, this amateur video attempts to provide a comprehensive record of the village of Foxearth. Every building in the village - including the church, the school, the village hall, the old brewery, and individual houses - are filmed. Also, most of the people living and working in the village are shown, many providing biographical details about their families, their occupations and their interests. Older residents discuss village life in previous decades and changes they have seen. A day is spent recording the activities of the village school, including pupils arriving for school, class work and school assembly. A number of public events are also recorded, such as a meeting of the parish council, a meeting of the Women's Institute, a jumble sale in the village hall, and bonfire night. The film includes a flight in a 1939 Tiger Moth bi-plane providing aerial views of the village and surrounding countryside. Also captured is the visit of a BBC TV crew filming an episode of the programme 'Campion' at the old brewery.
