INCUMBENT
Level: Series
Service of Church: Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials
Scope and Content:
At front: cutting from Church Assembly News, July 1927 (pp. 125, 126) summarizing effect on burial procedure of Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1926, which required the delivery before burial - including stillbirths - of a registrar's certificate for disposal or a coroner's order for burial, and subsequent notification to registrar.
Dates of Creation:
1821-1967
Extent:
1 volume
Custodial History:
Deposited in the Essex Record Office in April 1985, but 'many years ago the safe in [the] church had been carried away and some of the records were recovered from a ditch in a very damaged condition ...' (letter from PCC Secretary, 6 July 1987). These events probably occurred soon after the final entry made in 1967.
Physical Characteristics:
Damaged by damp and mould; some entries are partly or wholly illegible. A microfiche copy was made in 1991, and the register was subsequently repaired and re-bound.
