Maps of Great and Little Easton, Broxted, Tilty, Thaxted, Little Canfield and Great Dunmow, as follows [the Leicestershire maps had been removed before the deposit of the maps in the Essex Record Office and their whereabouts is unknown].

Title page formed from large and elaborate uncoloured cartouche incorporating the Maynard family arms.

(1) 'A survey of the several farms in the manours of Little Eiston and Broxted ...'
Farms (2,200 a.) in manors of Little Easton and Broxted being whole of Little Easton and southern tongue of Broxted. Shows Easton Lodge in block plan with lay-out of formal gardens and grounds; Little Easton church and other buildings in perspective view; strips in four small common fields in Broxted; water-mill and mill dam in Little Easton; pound near Little Easton church; hop ground and osiers.

Farms (1,750 a.) in manor of Great Easton in centre and south of Great Easton. Shows Great Easton church and other buildings, including Great Easton village, in perspective view; 'Mountain' [castle mound] near church, floodgate, post-mill [drawn in pencil on Further Mill Lay]; osiers.

(3) 'A survey of the several farms in the manours of Tillty Broxted, Thaxted & Much Eiston ...'
Farms (1,465 a.) in manors of Tilty, Broxted, Thaxted and Great Easton being whole of Tilty, with scattered areas in south of Broxted, and very small areas in extreme south of Thaxted and extreme west of Great Easton. Shows postmill, watermill and 'The Vineyard' in Tilty; Tilty church and other buildings (including those on site of Tilty Abbey) in perspective view; strips in Great Common Field [in Tilty]; hop ground and osiers.

Farms (400 a.) in manor of Dunmow scattered in centre and west of Great Dunmow. Shows Great Dunmow church and other buildings, including Dunmow High Street, in perspective view; post-mill, bowling green and signpost; hop ground.
Two sheets joined together, 1250 x 910 mm.

No acreages given; extent of farms denoted by letters. Shows ponds, gates; distinguishes hedge from woodland. The title of each map is in an uncoloured cartouche; the maps themselves are uncoloured except for plain red borders, red reference letters, blue for water and occasionally pale buff for roads. Each map has a plain compass rose; the first, only, also has a scale bar showing a scale of 6.25 inches to 100 perches [20 inches to 1 mile or 1:3168].

Created for Henry Maynard, 4th Baron Maynard (c.1673-1742). The title page carries on the reverse a bookplate of 'Charles Lord Maynard' - probably Henry's younger brother Charles Maynard (c.1690-1775), who became the 6th Baron Maynard in 1745 and was created Viscount Maynard in 1766.
