Sir Frederick Green was born 17 June 1845 and went to Harrow School. He was one of the founders of the Orient Steam Navigation Company in 1879. His family owned the shipyard of R. and H. Green and Co. at Blackwalll. He was knighted in 1912. For many years he lived at Hainault Lodge, Chigwell Row. He died 17 February 1927 and was buried in All Saints Church, Chigwell Row.
