Scope and Content:
Conveyance (release) for £111.

(i) William Barber of Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, butcher, and his wife Mary (formerly Mary Bocock, spinster), Ann Bocock of Bishop's Stortford, spinster, Thomas Sparling of Bishop's Stortford, schoolmaster, and his wife Joanna (formerly Joanna Bocock, spinster), Thomas Bocock of Stepney, Middlesex, yeoman, and his wife Sarah, Laetitia Leader of Latton, widow (formerly Laetitia Bocock, spinster), and Joseph Bocock of Bishop's Stortford, labourer, the main parties being all children of Mary Bocock of Bishop's Stortford, widow, deceased, and devisees under the will (proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury 1798) of Arthur Clarke of Quendon Street, victualler (father of the said Mary Bocock widow), to (ii) William Brett of Stansted Mountfitchet, blacksmith, and to (iii) John Miller of Stansted Mountfitchet, victualler, in trust for said William Brett.

Messuage or tenement called the Chapel House with yard and garden 'in the Street called the Chapel' in Stansted Mountfitchet, occupied by said William Brett.

Covenant by (i) to levy a fine to George Welch of Stansted Mountfitchet surgeon and apothecary in trust for (ii).

Covenant by Welch, purchaser of the greater part of the premises by value, to produce indenture made between said Arthur Clarke and his wife Joanna (formerly Joanna Brett spinster) and William Patmore of Bishop's Stortford, fellmonger, 1779 [no details, but see D/P 109/28/3. Presumably Welch's purchase was the property recorded in D/P 109/28/5].

Signed and sealed by each of (i), with the exception of Sarah Bocock who marks her mark. All use the seal of a bearded head in left profile with the exception of Thomas Bocock and Sarah Bocock who use a seal of a wheel: endorsements show that they sealed the release separately from the others.
