Scope and Content:
Comprises minutes of annual meetings of ratepayers of Billericay Gas District 1892-1893; minutes of vestry 1892-1957; minutes of Annual Parochial Church Meeting (initially 'meeting of churchpeople', and not always distinguished from the vestry or the Parochial Church Council) 1917-1965; minutes of Parochial Church Council 1922-1965. The PCC worked through a variety of committees, but their meetings are not minuted.

Includes resolutions for restoration of south porch 1895 and enlargement of vestry 1905; resolution to 'endeavour to form a Church Council' 1915; PCC resolutions for replacement of organ and restoration of church porch 1926; approval of design for stained glass east window 1927; acceptance of offer to 'take away the old foot stones from the graves in front of the churchyard' and level the ground, and resolution to level all unattended graves, 1931; resolutions to leave to vicar the question of numbering of graves 1934 and to buy land to extend churchyard 1935; reference, 1936, to presence in church of tomb of George FitzGeorge, 'natural son of King George III or IV' [the epitaph transcribed in T/Z 151/129 gives his lifespan as 1808-1819]; abortive proposals for church hall 1937, 1953; references to bomb damage to windows 1941-1945; resolutions for restoration of interior of church and improvements to sanctuary and Lady Chapel 1950; approval of 'a plan for the new portion of the churchyard' 1950; report of preparation of leaflet on history of church by Mr. W.S. Jenkins 1951 [there is no copy amongst the parish records]; resolutions to sell reredos, panelling and communion rails, originally from St. Christopher-le-Stocks, City of London, to church of St. Vedast, City of London, 1951; to buy replacement organ 1952; to prepare plan of 'the completed portion of the churchyard' 1953; to adopt Free Will Offering Scheme 1953; to buy safe for storage of parish records 1953; to restore tower, steeple etc. 1954; reports of proposed changes to parish boundary, taking in part of parish of Laindon while losing an area to parish of Billericay, 1955, 1957 [it is not clear from the minutes whether these proposals were carried through]; approval of plans for restoration of pews and Lady Chapel 1956; acceptance in principle of proposal for Basildon Urban District Council to take over churchyard 1959; discussions from 1960 of new church to be built to serve development at Outwood Common [i.e. church of St. John the Divine, Billericay]; resolution for development of glebe lands, including new vicarage, 1964; discussion of possible union with Methodist Church 1964.

Cover of spine missing (2002). Minutes of the PCC meeting of 26 March 1923 have been heavily struck through in pencil, perhaps as a deliberate act of cancellation.
