Scope and Content:
Comprises:

for Rushley Island, a single copy photograph, said by the caption to show the Sutton family in front of the island's only house [Rushley Farm], demolished in 1952 [more probably 1953] after the flooding of the island, with rough undated note that it was 'taken 67 years ago'. [The Sutton family appear at the farm in the 1901 census (RG 13/1685, folios 26-27, pages 44-45). Alice Sutton, seen here as a babe in arms, was aged 6 in 1901, suggesting that the photograph was taken in about 1895. If this was known when the copy was made, it dates the copy to about 1962.]

for Foulness Island, postcard of 'Kingshead, Court End, Foulness', n.d. [early 20th century], two newscuttings re Foulness as possible site for Maplin Airport, 1970, 1974, newscutting of article by F.Z. Claro on history of postal service, 1972, and booklet by J.R. Smith, 'Foulness. A history of an Essex island parish' (1970).
