Admin History:
The school was built in 1928 and opened in 1929 in Fairfax Drive. Known as the Junior Day Department of the Municipal College, it specialised in technical and commercial subjects. In 1934 the Department moved to the town centre and the school opened as Fairfax Senior Mixed School.
During the Second World War the school was ecacuated to Swadlincote, Derbyshire, returning to Westcliff in 1943.
In 1953 the school became a single sex secondary modern school. It was renamed Fairfax High School for Boys and received the Boys Department of Westborough High School. In 1987 Fairfax and Westborough amalgamated to form Prittlewell High School.
