Scope and Content:
Radio programme items created by Dennis Rookard for the British Forces Broadcasting Service, the British Tourist Authority and a radio station in the US, [1987]:
1) "Tiptree Visit - short version" - feature on the Tiptree jam factory consisting largely of interviews with Peter Cook and Peter Wilkin, Joint Managing Directors of Wilkin & Sons. It focusses on the high quality of the products and the 'hand-made' nature of the production process. Recorded for BTA (4 minutes 12 seconds) (listen above).
2) "Tiptree Visit - long version" - This is a longer version of 1 above with the addition of an interview about organic farming with Michael Caddy who runs an organic fruit farm in Tiptree. Recorded for BFBS (6 minutes 53 seconds).
3) "Pools Win" - Reporter Dennis Rookard delivers the news to Mrs Ford of Chelmsford that she has won the pools. Recorded for BFBS (2 minutes 13 seconds).
4) "Guinness Book of Records Hall of Fame" - report from an event to launch the Guinness Book of Records Hall of Fame, including interviews with record-breakers Vernon Craig, Joseph Kittinger and Sir Rannulph Fiennes. Recorded for 'Topifax' series on BFBS (7 minutes 34 seconds).
5) "BFBS Call Signs" - three call signs identifying BFBS and two 'Link With Home' jingles in stereo (2 minutes 14 seconds).
6) "Lupins" - interview with David Kay of Writtle Agricultural College about the possibility of lupins being grown as an agricultural crop. Recorded for BFBS (1 minute 52 seconds).
7) "Brentwood Tennessee Advertisements" - six advertisements recorded for broadcast on a radio station in Brentwood, Tennessee [USA] advertising a development of luxury homes called Hemmingwood. This was a 'Homes for Heritage' development, an affiliate of Maryland Farms, and the architecture was supposedly inspired by the English architecture of Brentwood, Essex (6 minutes 7 seconds).
