DEEDS OF BRAISWICK FARM, MILE END, LEXDEN, COLCHESTER AND GREAT HORKESLEY

Devises messuage (in his own occ.) with garden and great meadow called Horkesley Meadow lying in fron thereof, farm buildings situated on right-hand side of road from Myland to Colchester and lands on left-hand side thereof, meadows called Little Meadows near testator's dwelling house and pieces of land called Mill Damms lying near the said meadows, piece of marsh or fen ground called The woody Fenn and all other lands and tenements in Gt. and Lt. Horkesley to grandson Jordan Harris, eldest son of testator's son John Harris of Horkesley, gentleman, deceased., and his issue with successive remainders to grandsons John Harris and Thomas Harris and grand-daughter Sarah Harris (children of testator's son John Harris, deceased.) and their issue, and testator's right heirs, subject nevertheless to payment of an annuity of £15 to daughter-in- law Elizabeth Harris, widow and relict of son John, for life; messuage, farm and lands in Twywell and Cranford (co. Northants.) and all other property in Northamptonshire, (except one cottage) to grandson John Harris and his issue, with successive remainders to grands. Thomas Harris and grand-daughter Sarah Harris and their issue, and testator's right heirs, subject nevertheless to payment of an annuity of £5 to daughter-in-law Elizabeth Harris for life; wood and two pieces of ground in Lexden, in occupation of Henry Sadler, to grandson Thomas Harris and his issue, with successive remainders to grand-daughter Sarah Harris and her issue and testator's right heirs; wood called Brockleford Wood in Ardleigh to grandson Jordan Reeve, son of daughter Dame Anne Reeve, widow; all testator's estate and interest in a copyhold messuage, farm and lands in Kersey, (co. Suffolk), in occupation of Thomas Man, and wood called Poors Wood near the heath in West Bergholt to son-in-law George Lisle of Colchester, apothecary (the copyhold property in Kersey, which was not surrendered to use of testator's will, to be quitclaimed freely to George Lisle by all other beneficiaries or their own legacies to be forfeit); cottage, yard and garden in Twywell, (co. Northants.), in occ. of Rebecca Dixen, widow, to brother-in-law William Cockaine

Bequeaths £300 to grand-daughter Sarah Harris, payable at her majority, the interest meanwhile to be used for her education and maintenance, with remainder, in event of her death as a minor to her three brothers in equal shares on attainment of majority; large set of silver castors marked T.S. to grand-daughter Sarah Harris; £300 to grand-daughter Sarah Harris, only daughter of son Samuel Harris of Horskesley, mariner, deceased, payable at her majority, the interest meanwhile to be used for her education and maintenance, with successive remainders, in event of her death as a minor, to grand-daughter Sarah Harris, daughter of son John Harris, at her majority, and three grandsons, Jordan, John and Thomas Harris in equal shares; large silver tankard marked J.H.S. to grandson Jordan Harris; all household goods (except plate) to daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Harris, widow, for life, and thereafter to grandchildren Jordan, John, Thomas and Sarah Harris, children of son John Harris, in equal shares; £30 to brother-in-law William Cockaine; £10 each to friends William Ray of Monk Soham, (county Suffolk), clerk and Stephen White of Houghton, (county Suffolk), clerk

Residue, after payment of debts and funeral charges, to grandchildren Jordan, John, Thomas and Sarah Harris, children of s. John Harris, in equal shares
