A transcript of 1598. The register has been extensively used by successive incumbents (including the Revd Philip Morant, 1734-1738) as a commonplace book for notes about the church and parish. Morant compiled a history of the parish (two and a half pages - nothing original), a list of vicars from Richard Newcourt's Repertorium Ecclesiasticum Parochiale Londinense (London 1708-1710) brought more or less up to date by other vicars, a transcript of the value of the church of Broomfield from the Bishop's Register, 1288 (transcribed also a note endorsed on the original of the divers lands belonging to Redleigh Hall in Terling which owe tithe to Broomfield church). Morant also describes in detail the tithing customs of Broomfield, including the rate of composition, and describing the Vicarage House, and listing the woods (areas given) in the parish of which the vicar has tithe. Papers about land tax etc. Note of appointment of Parish Clerk, 1785.
Modern notes include an account of the bomb of 14 May 1943 and of the window dedicated in 1948.
