Radio programme items created by Dennis Rookard for the British Forces Broadcasting Service, 1984:
1) "Prehistoric Aircraft" - interview with Bill Deiches regarding the theory that aircraft were flown by the Ancient Egyptians. Recorded for BFBS, 10 July 1984 (3 minutes).
2) "Kipling" - interview with the actor Alec McCowen regarding his one-man show about Rudyard Kipling. Recorded for BFBS, 4 July 1984 (4 minutes 19 seconds).
3) "Zulu Museum" - interview with Major Bob Smith about a museum dedicated to the South Wales Borderers, a regiment famous for its action during the Anglo-Zulu War. Includes a brief description of the Battle of Isandlwana and the defence of Rorke's Drift. Recorded May 1984 (4 minutes 49 seconds).
4) "Monopoly Marathon" - report on a live game of Monopoly in which participants must visit every location in London mentioned on the Monopoly board. Speakers include Giles Brandreth and Madeleine Legge of the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus which was benefitting from this charity event. Recorded for BFBS, 24 June 1984 (3 minutes 18 seconds).
5) "Petanque" - report from the Tower Arms pub in South Weald on the popularity of the game Petanque in the village. Includes an interview with Vic Bradbury, the local doctor and founder of the village team (6 minutes 58 seconds) (listen above).
6) "Sympathetic Hearing Scheme" - interview with Beryl Richards, producer of a video made as part of the Sympathetic Hearing Scheme to help people understand some of the difficulties faced by people who are hard of hearing. Recorded for BFBS, 18 June 1984 (3 minutes 33 seconds).
7) "Cottage Museum" - interview with Lindsey Evers, curator of a museum consisting of a recreation of a 1930s home on Dunton plotlands. recorded for BFBS, 19 June 1984 (3 minutes 31 seconds).
8) "Sexy Socks" - interview with Oliver Sellers of the Wolsey Research Laboratory about their sock advisory service and about socks in general. Recorded for BFBS, 22 June 1984 (3 minutes 48 seconds).
9) "Top Secretary" - interview with Elizabeth Steward who had been awared the title of Secretary of the Year by the London Chamber of Commerce having received the top marks in their diploma examinations. Recorded for BFBS, 15 August 1984 (2 minutes 40 seconds).
10) "Mail Coach" - report on an event organised by the Post Office to launch a new set of stamps showing scenes from the days of mail coaches. The event involved an eighteenth century mail coach with four horses travelling from Bristol to London. Speakers include the coachman, John Parker, and barton Jones of the Post Office. Recorded for BFBS, 2 August 1984 (5 minutes 55 seconds).
11) "Eros On The Move" - interview with Norman Howard, Chairman of the Greater London Council's Historic Buildings Panel, about the statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus being removed for restoration (3 minutes 5 seconds).
