Scope and Content:
Census enumerator's notes on Ingatestone, comprising:
notes of 'the population of the British Empire' [i.e. the United Kingdom] in 1821;
copy of census schedule;
notes, dated 2 May, on individual properties, showing adult householders' and inmates' names and occupations, and often their ages if under 20; wives, boys and girls are merely counted;
rough notes;
notes of increase in population in 27 Essex parishes, 1831.
At end reversed: inventory (incomplete) of farm stock and implements [at Ingatestone Hall Farm], 6 April 1832, with note of tolls charged at Ingatestone Fair, signed 'J. Coverdale'.
