Scope and Content:
Presentment by Richard Buggs and Francis Reeve gent., surveyors of harlow that they did appoint between Easter and the hativity of St. John the Baptist certain days for the working in the highways, 3 days for labourers and 2 days for carts, and they present those that have defaulted:-

John Crooke, Roger Adame, Simon Peake, The. Elderton, Walter Wilson, James Browen, Edmd. Burrell, Thomas Grave, Joyce Torner widow, Richard Toweler, chris. Jackson, Edward Burridge, John stevensor jun., Thomas Allett, Benny Cattrowle, Edward Humfrey, John Hunck (n Jun, Thomas Allett,Henry Cattrowle, Edward Humfrey, John Nmunck (n John Fester, tho, Nylborne, Robert Wilson and John prents jun., being all men, and in regard of their povorty they desire that they may be favoured according to the justices: discretion.

John Jonnings, John Curtis, Thomas Marchall (discharged), Tho, Fulsheere and Edward Dowcett are also defaulters, and they think thom fit and able to do their work.

Edw. Bonton, John Adame, John Walker (discharged), and Tho,. prentis did work but one day apiece.

The defaulters of carts, Thomas Sumpner, a cart and toam, stones, 4s.VD., which maid sum was taken up of some within the parish which did compound with them for their work.

Also there was paid by the said surveyors for picking of stones, 4s.7d., which said sum was taken up of some within the parish which did compound with them for their work.
