Scope and Content:
Jury list and presentment for the Hundreds of Hinckford and Witham.
Nich. Treyle of Finchingfield for not siding the constable being charged in the King's name upon misdemeanours (in June last), and for erecting 2 tenements and entertaining of inmates (Rob. Treyle, Thomas Cooke and wives and family 3 months; not 4 acres within 2 years).
Chas. Huntman (knacker), Jeremy Pylgrame (kember), Christopher Harwarde (baker, Richard Huccaby and Daniel Woodruffe (currier), all of Braintree, for victualling without licence.
Wm. Eppleford of Bocking (shoemaker) for the same.
Rebccca Cooke of Bocking spinster for that she hath had two base children at several times (at Bocking within 2 months past).
Margery Beal of Hatfield Peverel who hath had three base children at three several times (the last within 6 Months).
The daughter of widow Francis for one base child of which she saith the reputed father is Robert Grvelye of Witham.
"One Burde" of Hatfield Peverel of the White Hart for victualling without licence.
Solomon Coocke of Ballingdon hamlet (weaver) for refusing to work in the highways (as a labourer this last year for 6 days).
Rob. Hyles of Ballingdon hamlet (weaver) for a drunkard.
Wm. Londe of Pentlow for encreaching of the common called "pickman lane" and erecting a stable on it, and also for erecting a cottage (not 4 acres to it).
Rich. Clarke of Pentlow (husbandman) for encroaching of the highway from Pentlow to Belchamp St. paul (about 3 red in length, and in breadth 2 yearde).
Margt. Cobbes of Witham singlewomen for having one base child within 6 months last past.
Agnes Crowe of Witham singlewoman for having two base children, the last within 6 months.
Ann Howman of Witham singlewoman for having one base child within a year last past, all likely to be chargeable to the parish.
