Synopsis of tape: Interview with Mrs. Hollingshead, born 1914 Ghyllgrove Farm, Honeypot Lane, Basildon; spent all life in farming after leaving Chelmsford Agricultural College - husband also farmer; origins of name Ghyllgrove; compulsorily purchased 1957 for new town; killing and maiming of farm animals by bomb shrapnel during war; shops in area - livestock markets at Wickford and Stanford-le-Hope; anecdote of resisting compulsory purchase of farm by lying down in front of bulldozer; became trustee of Fryerns Tenants Community Hall, helped from Community Association and Barnstable Unit; on committee for Whitmoor Way Community Centre; opening of Whitmoor Way, first road in new town, and building of first houses in Honeypot Lane; moved to Crays Hall, Church Lane 1986 - very old farm house and ancient structure.
